Please enjoy:by Madison Keller
Please enjoy:Theo closed the app on his phone, tapping so hard his hoof-tipped finger almost broke the screen.
Please enjoy:Then, for good measure, he tossed it across the room,
Please enjoy:aiming for his bed where it bounced off the pillow.
Please enjoy:He was mad, yes, but not angry enough to risk ruining his expensive phone.
Please enjoy:Why did online dating have to be so hard?
Please enjoy:Why were guys such
Please enjoy:jerks? It was Friday, damn it.
Please enjoy:He should be getting ready for a hot date with a hot buck, not sitting alone in his bedroom.
Please enjoy:Absently, he reached up to scratch his antler attachments.
Please enjoy:The surgery had been six months ago.
Please enjoy:They were healing nicely, but they still itched.
Please enjoy:He glanced around the small room
Please enjoy:and spotted his phone laying on top of his empty backpack.
Please enjoy:His eyes ran over a poster on his wall that showed a green,
Please enjoy:leafy forest. On impulse
Please enjoy:he grabbed the empty bag and started stuffing clothing into it.
Please enjoy:It might be October,
Please enjoy:but it hadn’t gotten that cold yet.
Please enjoy:He was going camping.
Please enjoy:On his way out the door he snagged some butter out of the fridge and then
Please enjoy:an acorn squash and a few onions out of the garden,
Please enjoy:stuffing them into his pack on top of his clothes.
Please enjoy:He opened his car door and tossed his bag into the passenger seat before ducking down to slide into the driver’s side.
Please enjoy:He didn’t duck low enough for the height of his new antlers and they bounced off the doorframe,
Please enjoy:painfully pulling at his new scars.
Please enjoy:“Ouch,” he snarled, standing back up and rubbing at the top of his head.
Please enjoy:“Stupid things.” He grabbed the base and twisted, detaching one antler and then the other.
Please enjoy:He tossed them onto the passenger seat next to his backpack and then got behind the wheel.
Please enjoy:He wove out of the city
Please enjoy:and then headed up a canyon
Please enjoy:into the mountains.
Please enjoy:As the green trees whipped by the windows,
Please enjoy:he could feel himself starting to relax.
Please enjoy:This had been a good idea.
Please enjoy:There was a pull off ahead near a trailhead.
Please enjoy:About ten miles up the trail were some camp sites he’d used before
Please enjoy:that were first come, first serve.
Please enjoy:This time of the year there shouldn’t be anyone else up there.
Please enjoy:He parked and got out of the car,
Please enjoy:shivering as the cold air hit the fur on his arms.
Please enjoy:Ever since he started testosterone he’d been warmer
Please enjoy:and been having to wear less layers, but he still had emergency sweatshirts stashed everywhere he frequented.
Please enjoy:He got a hoodie out of the back seat and pulled it on over his head,
Please enjoy:reflecting as he did so that there were benefits to removable antlers.
Please enjoy:His cis-guy friends all had to buy zip-up hoodies and button-up shirts because they couldn’t get the pull-over stuff over their antlers.
Please enjoy:Speaking of antlers,
Please enjoy:Theo pulled his off the passenger seat and reattached them before shrugging on the backpack.
Please enjoy:This time of year there wasn’t much birdsong,
Please enjoy:but even the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves around him as he hiked relaxed him still further.
Please enjoy:His hooves and legs were sore from the hike up by the time he reached the campsite
Please enjoy:at the top of the rise.
Please enjoy:As he predicted he had his pick of spots.
Please enjoy:Only one other tent was visible,
Please enjoy:pitched at the far end of the camp site and almost hidden by the trees.
Please enjoy:In his haste Theo hadn’t packed a tent,
Please enjoy:but the weather forecast was clear.
Please enjoy:He set his bag down in a camping spot and went to gather twigs and logs to start a campfire.
Please enjoy:It wasn’t long before his fire was merrily burning away
Please enjoy:in the brick fire pit closest to the spot he’d picked
Please enjoy:away from the other camper.
Please enjoy:There was only one pit for every four campsites,
Please enjoy:not that that was an issue tonight.
Please enjoy:He pulled out the squash and set it on the bricks by the fire to warm up.
Please enjoy:Then with a stick he pushed a burning log away to make room for the two onions.
Please enjoy:He put them inside the pit,
Please enjoy:as far from the fire as he could get them,
Please enjoy:nestled up against the brick edge of the pit.
Please enjoy:Almost immediately
Please enjoy:the scent of roasting onion wafted up from their skins
Please enjoy:where they rested against the hot bricks.
Please enjoy:Now that the squash was warm,
Please enjoy:he pulled out his big pocket knife and rolled the squash onto its side,
Please enjoy:preparing to cut the top off.
Please enjoy:Just as he was slashing down with the knife,
Please enjoy:a deep male voice came out of the darkness behind him.
Please enjoy:“Wow, that smells good.”
Please enjoy:Theo jumped in surprise and his knife missed the top of the squash.
Please enjoy:The blade bounced off the bricks with a ping,
Please enjoy:putting a big dent in the edge.
Please enjoy:Theo turned to glare at the newcomer,
Please enjoy:ready to give him a piece of his mind, but instead his mouth just opened and closed uselessly.
Please enjoy:The stranger had moved closer,
Please enjoy:giving Theo a good view of him in the light of the fire.
Please enjoy:The stranger turned out to be the most handsome buck Theo had ever seen
Please enjoy:with long lashes,
Please enjoy:big black eyes, and soft-looking tan fur that Theo wanted to run his fingers through.
Please enjoy:The buck wore a zip-up black jacket and jeans.
Please enjoy:“Gah,” was all Theo managed to spit out.
Please enjoy:The stranger leaned closer,
Please enjoy:closing his eyes
Please enjoy:and flaring his nostrils.
Please enjoy:“Is that onion and squash?”
Please enjoy:“Uh, yeah,” Theo finally got out.
Please enjoy:What was this about?
Please enjoy:Why was this buck drooling over his food?
Please enjoy:“It smells delicious.”
Please enjoy:The buck opened his eyes,
Please enjoy:flashed Theo a smile,
Please enjoy:and crossed his legs to settle down next to Theo.
Please enjoy:“Mind if I sit with you?”
Please enjoy:Theo’s eyes widened.
Please enjoy:“I, uh, no. I don’t mind,”
Please enjoy:he stuttered out. Picking back up his knife,
Please enjoy:Theo sighed over the damage to the blade.
Please enjoy:Ruined. But it still should be sufficient to cut the top off his squash.
Please enjoy:He wiped the blade off on his pants
Please enjoy:and then sawed off the top of the squash.
Please enjoy:Setting aside the top, he used the knife to scoop out the seeds
Please enjoy:and then plopped the cube of butter from his bag into the opening.
Please enjoy:He set the top back on
Please enjoy:and then nestled the squash into the ashes in front of his roasting onions.
Please enjoy:Normally he’d hold it on with toothpicks, but in his haste to leave the house he’d neglected to pack any.
Please enjoy:However, he’d cut it at an angle, and that was enough to keep the top from falling inside.
Please enjoy:“What are you doing?”
Please enjoy:the stranger asked,
Please enjoy:cocking his head as he watched.
Please enjoy:“Don’t you need a pan or something?”
Please enjoy:“Nope,” Theo said, using the knife tip to carefully rotate the onions so that they cooked evenly.
Please enjoy:“You can cook them directly in the fire.
Please enjoy:Once they’re done, you just peel the skins off and eat the insides.”
Please enjoy:He lay the pocketknife in the dirt next to him, since with the blade bent
Please enjoy:he couldn’t flip the blade back into the handle,
Please enjoy:and turned to the stranger, holding out a
Please enjoy:hand. “I’m Theo, by the way.”
Please enjoy:“Lukas,” the buck replied,
Please enjoy:reaching out and firmly shaking Theo’s proffered hand.
Please enjoy:His hoof-tipped fingers scrapped Theo’s as Lukas withdrew.
Please enjoy:A thrill went down Theo’s spine
Please enjoy:and the urge to flee from this handsome buck became nearly overwhelming.
Please enjoy:Behind him his tail popped up flagging white with his fear,
Please enjoy:and Theo was glad it was dark so Lukas couldn’t see how nervous he was.
Please enjoy:It was dark enough now
Please enjoy:that he could no longer see the tent through the trees,
Please enjoy:but he pointed in the direction he thought it was.
Please enjoy:“That your tent?” “Yeah,”
Please enjoy:Lukas sighed and leaned back to rest on his hands.
Please enjoy:“Being October I thought I’d be the only one out here.
Please enjoy:here.” “Me, too,” Theo admitted,
Please enjoy:wondering again why, if the stranger had come up here to be alone,
Please enjoy:he’d come over to join Theo at his fire.
Please enjoy:“Your onions smell delicious,”
Please enjoy:he said, as if he’d heard Theo’s unasked question.
Please enjoy:Theo shrugged, but inside he was smiling.
Please enjoy:They really did smell great.
Please enjoy:“Thanks—“ His reply was cut off by a loud growl coming from Lukas’ stomach.
Please enjoy:The lining of the handsome buck’s ears turned pink and he glanced away,
Please enjoy:putting a hand up to his stomach.
Please enjoy:“Um, would you like to share my meal?”
Please enjoy:Theo asked. It would have been too much just for himself anyway.
Please enjoy:He’d been planning to save the second onion and part of the squash for breakfast,
Please enjoy:but he could just wait till he got back to the city to eat.
Please enjoy:“Were you not able to get dinner before you came camping?”
Please enjoy:“It’s uh, kinda a long story.”
Please enjoy:Lukas leaned forward to rest his face in his hoof-hands,
Please enjoy:causing Theo to have to dodge to the side to avoid having one of the long tines coming from the far end of Lukas’ rack
Please enjoy:snagging on his hoodie.
Please enjoy:Lukas noticed his flinch and groaned,
Please enjoy:scooting his butt over a few inches on the dirt
Please enjoy:and tilted his head away.
Please enjoy:“You’re lucky yours are so small,”
Please enjoy:Lukas grumbled. Actually,
Please enjoy:Theo had begged his surgeon to give him bigger antlers, but she’d stood firm.
Please enjoy:Smallest model attachments only for the first year,
Please enjoy:to give the implants time to heal properly and for him to get used to the extra weight on his head. “Uh, y
Please enjoy:-y-yeah,” was all he managed to stammer out.
Please enjoy:To cover his embarrassment he picked up his knife
Please enjoy:and pushed up so that he could give all three of the roasting vegetables a turn
Please enjoy:so that they cooked evenly.
Please enjoy:When he was done
Please enjoy:he settled back down at an angle,
Please enjoy:turned more towards Lukas,
Please enjoy:but not so far that he couldn’t keep an eye on his cooking.
Please enjoy:“Well, it’s going to be at least another hour before these are done.
Please enjoy:I’ll tell you my story, if you tell me yours.
Please enjoy:Deal?” Theo held out a hoof-hand towards Lukas,
Please enjoy:who was still slumped over hiding his face in his hooves.
Please enjoy:“Fine.” Lukas reached up and shook Theo’s hoof without looking up.
Please enjoy:“You first.” “Fine,” Theo groaned.
Please enjoy:It had been his idea to pass the time this way, after all.
Please enjoy:“I’m up here to get away from everyone because, well, I’m frustrated that I haven’t been on a date in two years.
Please enjoy:It’s Friday night,
Please enjoy:I should be at a club with a hot doe or a handsome buck,
Please enjoy:not sitting at home alone watching reruns of Doctor Hooves.”
Please enjoy:Now Theo mimicked Lukas’ pose,
Please enjoy:hiding his face. He hadn’t meant to admit to quite so much.
Please enjoy:Especially about his geeky love of the Doctor.
Please enjoy:Well, might as well throw it all out there now.
Please enjoy:“And yes, I know I could just go to the club by myself. But I’ve tried that. It’s boring.
Please enjoy:And no one looks twice at a tiny little, uh, buck like me.”
Please enjoy:He risked a glance out through his hooves at Lukas.
Please enjoy:The bigger buck had straightened back up,
Please enjoy:resting his hoof-hands in his lap.
Please enjoy:He was giving Theo a confused look.
Please enjoy:“So,” Lukas said, “you didn’t want to be home alone tonight, so you came up here to. . .
Please enjoy:be. . . alone?” “Well, when you put it like that,”
Please enjoy:Theo sighed and absent-mindedly ran a hoof along the base of an antler.
Please enjoy:“I don’t know why I came up here.
Please enjoy:I just wanted to clear my head, I guess.
Please enjoy:Not worry about being dateless for the thousandth night in a row.”
Please enjoy:“Makes sense,” Lukas said with a nod.
Please enjoy:Theo turned and checked on the onions and poked the squash,
Please enjoy:giving them each another quarter turn before settling back down and looking at Lukas.
Please enjoy:“Your turn.” “It’s stupid,”
Please enjoy:Lukas said, drawing in the dirt to his side with a hoofed finger.
Please enjoy:“Stupider than coming up to the mountains to be alone because I didn’t want to be at home, alone?”
Please enjoy:Theo snorted. That drew a belly laugh from Lukas.
Please enjoy:“Actually, yes. It is.”
Please enjoy:He fell silent, staring into the fire.
Please enjoy:Theo sat quietly, waiting while Lukas gathered up the nerve to speak.
Please enjoy:Beside him sap in the branches he’d gathered snapped and popped.
Please enjoy:The wind rushed through the unseen branches overhead,
Please enjoy:and blew straight through Theo’s thin hoodie.
Please enjoy:He shivered and rubbed his arms with his hoof-hands,
Please enjoy:scooting closer to the fire.
Please enjoy:“Oh, are you cold?” Lukas asked.
Please enjoy:“I have an extra hoodie in my tent.”
Please enjoy:Theo shivered and said through clacking teeth,
Please enjoy:“Sure.” “Be right back.”
Please enjoy:Lukas got to his feet and stumbled away into the dark.
Please enjoy:Branches snapped and he heard Lukas cursing.
Please enjoy:He wondered why such a prepared hiker,
Please enjoy:one with extra warm clothes and a nice tent,
Please enjoy:didn’t seem to have basics like food or a flashlight.
Please enjoy:Not that he was any better prepared.
Please enjoy:Theo tended to his cooking while he waited for Lukas to return.
Please enjoy:A few minutes later
Please enjoy:cracking branches and muttered curses heralded Lukas’ return.
Please enjoy:He plopped down next to the fire
Please enjoy:and wordlessly handed Theo a zip-up sweatshirt
Please enjoy:that smelled like mud and,
Please enjoy:even in the dim light of his campfire, looked none too clean.
Please enjoy:No matter. Warmth was warmth.
Please enjoy:It was actually good that it was far too big for him, because
Please enjoy:he was easily able to put it on overtop his other sweatshirt
Please enjoy:and still have room to zip it up.
Please enjoy:He pushed up the too-long sleeves.
Please enjoy:“Thanks.” Lukas’ teeth flashed in the dim light.
Please enjoy:“You’re welcome. Least I can do in trade for the first meal I’ll be having in days.”
Please enjoy:“Wait, days?” Theo stared at the buck.
Please enjoy:Now that he thought about it, he hadn’t seen any other cars parked in any of the lots or along the road on his way up here.
Please enjoy:Had he hiked here from somewhere else?
Please enjoy:“Yeah,” Lukas ducked his head again and looked away.
Please enjoy:“I’ve wanted to hike the Pacific Crest Trail for ages.
Please enjoy:I’m planning to do full trail starting next spring.
Please enjoy:This trip is kind of a practice run.
Please enjoy:I was supposed to hike from Seattle down to Portland,
Please enjoy:then catch the train back home.”
Please enjoy:Now it was Theo’s turn to look confused.
Please enjoy:“Supposed to?” “Well, uh,
Please enjoy:I kind of ran into a snag.”
Please enjoy:“You ran out of food, didn’t you.”
Please enjoy:Theo chuckled as he crossed his arms and shook his head.
Please enjoy:“Yeah.” The buck hung his head. “I did,”
Please enjoy:he whispered. “You know it’s another fifty miles to Portland,” Theo said,
Please enjoy:thinking of how long it had taken him just to drive up here.
Please enjoy:Without food, Lukas would never make it the three or four more days it would take him to hike in.
Please enjoy:“I can give you a ride to the train station in the morning.”
Please enjoy:“That’d be great,” Lukas said with a groan,
Please enjoy:pulling his knees to his chest and resting his chin on them.
Please enjoy:“What about your flashlight?
Please enjoy:I noticed you stumbling around in the dark.
Please enjoy:Did you forget it?”
Please enjoy:“Ran out of batteries.
Please enjoy:Those things are heavy, but I guess I skimped a little too much.
Please enjoy:I should have taken the clerk up on that purchase of a solar-charged battery pack after all.”
Please enjoy:Lukas sighed. Theo leaned over and patted Lukas’ leg as he sat up to check on the cooking, before picking up his bent knife.
Please enjoy:He poked at the flesh of the acorn squash with the flat of the blade
Please enjoy:and it easily dented the side.
Please enjoy:The squash was done.
Please enjoy:He set the knife down on the edge of the fire pit and used the fingertips of each of his hoof-hands to pick up the hot squash
Please enjoy:on either side. The thick keratin nubs at the ends of each finger weren’t affected by the heat.
Please enjoy:He set the squash on the bricks
Please enjoy:and then check the onions,
Please enjoy:which were browned to perfection.
Please enjoy:He carefully picked up each one
Please enjoy:and set them on either side of the squash.
Please enjoy:Next Theo grabbed the squash’s stem and lifted off the top.
Please enjoy:Steam and a strong aroma of roasted squash and butter rolled out of the opening.
Please enjoy:Lukas’ head popped up and his big nostrils flared.
Please enjoy:Theo closed his eyes and inhaled deeply,
Please enjoy:salivating at the scent.
Please enjoy:This was the best part of any meal.
Please enjoy:He heard Lukas shifting around and then felt the heat of his body as he pressed close to Theo.
Please enjoy:Theo opened his eyes and glanced over at Lukas.
Please enjoy:The buck was even more handsome up close, if that were possible.
Please enjoy:But now that he was closer to Theo and the light of the fire,
Please enjoy:he could see the dirt marking the buck’s fur
Please enjoy:and see the big black circles under his eyes.
Please enjoy:“Here, that onion is yours,”
Please enjoy:Theo picked up the knife and gently tapped the head of the onion closest to Lukas.
Please enjoy:“Peel off the outer layers and then you can just eat the inside like an apple.”
Please enjoy:Lukas grabbed the onion.
Please enjoy:“Hot, hot,” he juggled it back and forth for a moment before he was able to get a grip with his fingertips.
Please enjoy:Steam billowed out
Please enjoy:as he peeled back the outer layers.
Please enjoy:Lukas didn’t even wait until he had the whole thing done,
Please enjoy:as soon as there was enough room to take a bite he began chomping at the onion’s soft, white insides.
Please enjoy:While Lukas devoured his onion,
Please enjoy:Theo used the knife to cut the acorn squash in half.
Please enjoy:Butter ran over his hands and scalded his palms.
Please enjoy:He used the blade of the knife to clumsily scoop out the seeds.
Please enjoy:Belatedly he realized that Lukas probably had utensils like spoons in his tent
Please enjoy:that would have made this job easier.
Please enjoy:He turned to Lukas intending to ask, but the buck was so engrossed in his food
Please enjoy:that Theo just shrugged and finished up as best he could with the knife.
Please enjoy:He held up Lukas’ half of the acorn squash
Please enjoy:as the buck was finishing up the last few bites of his onion.
Please enjoy:Lukas’ eyes lit up
Please enjoy:and he tossed the onion peel aside to take the squash.
Please enjoy:“Just like the onion,
Please enjoy:peel off the outside and eat,”
Please enjoy:Theo said as he passed the golden squash over to Lukas.
Please enjoy:The outside of the squash was singed
Please enjoy:since it was closer to the fire, but that didn’t matter
Please enjoy:because you generally didn’t eat the skin anyway.
Please enjoy:By the time Theo had finished speaking,
Please enjoy:Lukas had already stuck the end of his muzzle into the squash and taken a big bite right from the center.
Please enjoy:Lukas mumbled something unintelligible around a mouthful of squash
Please enjoy:and kept eating. Theo laughed and picked up his own squash half.
Please enjoy:Peeling back the skin on one edge,
Please enjoy:Theo took a big bite.
Please enjoy:Normally he would have added salt and pepper at this stage,
Please enjoy:or even some cinnamon, rosemary, and maple syrup if he had a sweet tooth that day,
Please enjoy:but even with just butter the squash’s flesh melted in his mouth.
Please enjoy:Theo took his time,
Please enjoy:savoring each bite.
Please enjoy:He’d only eaten about half of his piece when Lukas let out a big sigh
Please enjoy:and laid down onto his back.
Please enjoy:The tines of his antlers dug into the dirt behind him.
Please enjoy:“That was the best meal I’ve ever had.”
Please enjoy:Theo chewed and swallowed,
Please enjoy:then laughed. “I think that’s just your starvation talking.”
Please enjoy:“No way, man.” Lukas closed his eyes and patted his belly.
Please enjoy:“Delicious.” “Well, thanks.”
Please enjoy:Lukas lay there in contented silence
Please enjoy:as Theo finished eating.
Please enjoy:He thought the bigger buck had fallen asleep.
Please enjoy:After he’d cleaned up the discarded squash and onion skins by tossing them in the fire to burn,
Please enjoy:he leaned over Lukas, intending to shake him gently awake.
Please enjoy:The buck’s eyes snapped open before Theo even touched him.
Please enjoy:Theo froze as Lukas met his gaze.
Please enjoy:Smiling, the buck rolled on his side
Please enjoy:and propped his head up with one hoof-hand to look at Theo,
Please enjoy:who was still frozen with indecision.
Please enjoy:“I noticed you don’t have a tent.”
Please enjoy:Theo gulped. “No,” he whispered. “It’s nice enough.
Please enjoy:I was just going to sleep under the stars.”
Please enjoy:He shivered as a gust of cold wind blew through all his layers
Please enjoy:and ruffled the fur of his chest.
Please enjoy:Lukas’ smile widened
Please enjoy:and he reached forward with his other hand to pull the zipper of the hoodie he’d loaned Theo
Please enjoy:up until it rested snuggly against his throat.
Please enjoy:“Your choice,” he winked.
Please enjoy:“But my tent is big enough for two.”
Please enjoy:Heat flooded Theo’s cheeks and he fell back to land on his rump.
Please enjoy:He watched speechless, as Lukas stood up
Please enjoy:and stretched slowly
Please enjoy:then strutted off into the dark in the direction of his two-deer tent.
Please enjoy:Theo’s eyes fixed on Lukas’ ass,
Please enjoy:nicely defined by his hiking jeans.
Please enjoy:His white-edged tail protruded out above his shorts,
Please enjoy:waving like a flag and highlighting the soft curves of Lukas’ rear-end.
Please enjoy:It would have been a glorious exit as he vanished into the dark,
Please enjoy:except that it was immediately followed by a loud curse and a thud,
Please enjoy:then Lukas said from the dark,
Please enjoy:“I’m ok. Antlers just caught in a branch.”
Please enjoy:Theo shook his head as he got to his hooves,
Please enjoy:able to follow Lukas’ trip back to the tent by the sounds of snapping branches and muffled curses.
Please enjoy:He looked at the dwindling fire
Please enjoy:and then at his own tiny backpack sitting next to an empty space on the dirt.
Please enjoy:He did have a thin,
Please enjoy:rolled up camping mat in his bag, but he knew from experience just how thin it really was.
Please enjoy:Lukas probably didn’t have anything cushier,
Please enjoy:having to haul everything on ones back meant packing light,
Please enjoy:but he did have a tent to protect against some of this arctic wind.
Please enjoy:And then there was Lukas himself.
Please enjoy:The buck was very hot,
Please enjoy:and had made his interest very clear.
Please enjoy:However, Theo was nervous how the buck would react to finding out he was trans.
Please enjoy:Plus, well, he wasn’t sure he actually wanted to have sex with Lukas,
Please enjoy:even as hot as he was.
Please enjoy:He shivered again and realized he should take Lukas up on the offer of the warmer tent.
Please enjoy:So far Lukas hadn’t been pushy
Please enjoy:and seemed to respect boundaries.
Please enjoy:He’d go, at least,
Please enjoy:and see how it went.
Please enjoy:His instinct was that if he asked to stop,
Please enjoy:Lukas would respect that.
Please enjoy:Nervously, Theo picked up his bag and began feeling his way towards Lukas’ tent.
Please enjoy:When he got there
Please enjoy:he could hear the buck rooting around inside.
Please enjoy:Theo tried to knock on the tent wall, but his fist just made a whooshing sound on the fabric.
Please enjoy:“Hello, Lukas?” There was a sound of a zipper opening.
Please enjoy:All of a sudden light spilled out of something in Lukas’ hand,
Please enjoy:blinding Theo.
Please enjoy:He fell back with a cry,
Please enjoy:covering his eyes.
Please enjoy:“Oh, sorry.” The blinding light dimmed somewhat.
Please enjoy:Theo blinked against the glare to see Lukas holding up a tiny lantern.
Please enjoy:“I found one more battery.
Please enjoy:Guess it had gotten rolled into that hoodie I loaned you.
Please enjoy:Come in, come in.” Theo awkwardly climbed inside, careful not to catch his antlers on the fabric.
Please enjoy:Not that it mattered.
Please enjoy:The area around the zipper and the top of the tent were covered in a variety of small puncture marks
Please enjoy:that had been crudely patched with duck tape.
Please enjoy:He sat his bag down and crawled to the side
Please enjoy:so that Lukas could zip the tent shut.
Please enjoy:Theo already felt considerably warmer.
Please enjoy:He unzipped Lukas’ hoodie and took it off, tossing it onto a pile of Lukas’ things on one end of the tent.
Please enjoy:Lukas set the lantern on the floor of the tent and then moved to sit next to Theo.
Please enjoy:“You came,” he said with a smile.
Please enjoy:“Yes, but uh, there’s something I have to tell you first.”
Please enjoy:Theo said quickly,
Please enjoy:trying to quash down his nervousness.
Please enjoy:Lukas deserved to know before things went any further.
Please enjoy:“Oh?” Lukas sat back and turned to fully face Theo,
Please enjoy:crossing his legs.
Please enjoy:“Does it have to do with you being trans?
Please enjoy:Cause I already figured it out, back at the fire.”
Please enjoy:“You did?” Theo stared at him,
Please enjoy:mouth gaping open.
Please enjoy:“How?” Lukas gestured at Theo’s pull over hoodie.
Please enjoy:“Dead giveaway, dude.
Please enjoy:First thing you should do, if you want to pass better, get rid of all your pull-overs and buy zip-ups.
Please enjoy:Cis-guy whitetails don’t buy pull-overs,
Please enjoy:they wouldn’t be able to get them on for half the winter until their antlers fell off.”
Please enjoy:“Of course.” Theo let out a laugh of half relief and half wonderment.
Please enjoy:Not only was Lukas taking it really well,
Please enjoy:he was giving Theo tips on passing.
Please enjoy:“Wait,” Theo gave Lukas a startled glance.
Please enjoy:“You knew when you flirted with me?
Please enjoy:You don’t mind?” “I don’t mind.
Please enjoy:I like guys, and you’re cute.”
Please enjoy:Lukas held up a hand.
Please enjoy:“Also, I swear this is not a pity fuck after hearing your story. Those
Please enjoy:guys and girls who turned you down don’t know what they’re missing.
Please enjoy:You’re adorable, a great cook, and an excellent listener.”
Please enjoy:Theo felt his ears and muzzle getting warm as he blushed.
Please enjoy:“Oh.” “Plus,” Lukas lowered his voice conspiratorially,
Please enjoy:“I’m kind of jealous you can take your antlers off when they get in the way.”
Please enjoy:He glanced up at the duck-tape covered top of his tent. Theo
Please enjoy:let out a laugh.
Please enjoy:“It is kinda convenient,”
Please enjoy:he admitted. A thrill went through him and he leaned down to plant a kiss on Lukas’ nose.
Please enjoy:Right then, the lantern flickered and died,
Please enjoy:plunging them into darkness.
Please enjoy:Lukas must have moved, because Theo’s muzzle landed right against the end of Lukas’.
Please enjoy:He didn’t protest as Lukas pulled him in for a long kiss.
